Below is what my friend Nissan sent me. He sent it in response to my comments on "The essence of the Middle East conflict for 5 minutes":

This is one time our elected leaders should pay attention to the advice of Vladimir Putin.

I would suggest that not only our leaders but every citizen of USA should pay attention to this advice.

How scary is that? It is a sad day when a Communist makes more sense than our LEADERS but here it is !!!!

 

 

Vladimir Putin's speech - SHORTEST SPEECH EVER

On August 04, 2013, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:

 

In Russia, live like Russians.

Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, it should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws.

If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslim's then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law.

 

Russia does not need Muslim minorities.

Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture.

We better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation.

The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia.

The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims.

 

When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslims Minorities Are Not Russians.

The politicians in the Duma gave Putin a five minute standing ovation.

Have you ever wondered why it’s OK to make jokes about Catholics, the Pope, Jews, Christians, the Irish, the Italians, the Polish, the Chinese, the French (including French Canadians), Newfies etc., but it’s insensitive to make jokes about Muslims?  Well we then need to level the playing field for the sake of political correctness…

A Hate Incident

This past Friday night, instead of having my usual guests for a festive Friday night dinner in my home, I had three compassionate LAPD officers standing in my kitchen explaining the difference between a "hate crime" and a "hate incident." My family was the victim of the latter. 

We were walking home in Los Angeles after a Friday night dinner at a friend’s house, dressed nicely for shabbat, easily identifiable as a Jewish family. We waited for a light to change on a corner of a major intersection when a black Mercedes SUV pulled up alongside us. Four middle eastern men in their 20’s were in the car. The one in the back rolled down his window and yelled, “Free Palestine!”

I immediately turned to face them, knowing I was in danger and like the Rabbi who was gunned down in Miami on his way to synagogue, this was the beginning of either a hate crime or a hate incident, but either way, hate was coming our way. We all know too well, that “Free Palestine” means free Palestine from every Jew. As they chant “Free Palestine, from the river to the sea.” That doesn’t mean they want a two state solution, they want Hitler’s final solution and a Jew-free middle east.

Then this Arab young man opened the car door, stepped onto the street and yelled at me, my wife and four young children: “I hope your children die! Just like you are killing children in Gaza!”

We all stood silently in utter horror and fear.

Then he got back in the Mercedes and they drove off. We were in a state of complete shock. My ten year old daughter immediately started crying and couldn’t stop. She kept yelling, “I’m scared.” My 5 year old daughter asked me why they want her to die? My other kids were too rattled to say anything.

I was stunned that I can no longer feel safe walking on shabbat with my family in my city. I kept reading about all the anti-semitism all over Europe, but here in these United States? That my innocent children had to be exposed to this level of anti-semitism has shaken me to my core. These people weren’t just yelling “Jew bastard” as I’d experienced growing up in the Bronx, they were wishing my children dead, right to their angelic faces. This was beyond appalling.

I couldn’t believe that they were filled with such hatred and ignorance and that someone could go as far as wishing my children dead and blaming me for the death of children in Gaza. Me?! I’vebeen killing children in Gaza? I’m a comedian. The only killing I’m personally responsible for is the killing of the audiences I’ve performed for. And the only “bombing" I’m guilty of are those rare sets where I don’t quite connect with the crowd.

Like any good, moral person I hate to see death and destruction anywhere. As we are taught in Proverbs, “Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, And do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles”. I would have loved to have shared with them that I’m against war and the loss of innocent life. But they didn’t want to hear it. They wanted to spew hatred. I would’ve gladly had an intellectual discussion with them about the fact that all of humanity should join together against terrorists like Hamas and ISIS who are slaughtering innocents, but they didn’t want to listen.

I would’ve been happy to debate them on the fact that Israel has a right to defend itself against a terrorist group who is firing a barrage of rockets at every citizen. Or that had Hamas accepted the first ceasefire, no children in Gaza would’ve been killed. About their firing from hospitals and schools and other densely populated areas in order to get the civilian casualty numbers higher, gaining Israel worldwide condemnation. That the leaders of Israel have called every innocent civilian death "a great tragedy." While the leaders of Hamas consider every innocent civilian death "a great victory."

Or that Gaza is no longer “occupied.” Or the fact that the definition of the word “occupation”doesn’t apply to a country who won land in defensive wars. Wars which were attempts at the total annihilation of Israel. Wars that were thrust upon them before any “blockades” or “settlements” or “occupation” or any of the other made up words that are now used to justify killing Jews.  Or that much of the suffering of the Palestinian people is a direct result of their elected leadership, just as the suffering of Arabs in most middle eastern countries are at the hands of their oppressive regimes. That the Arabs who enjoy real freedom, including freedom to worship any sect of any religion, freedom to speak their minds, freedom to be gay, are the Israeli Arabs living in Israel. Or simply educate them on the 3,000 year history of our people in our tiny homeland and our willingness and desire to live in peace with our arab neighbors.

But they didn’t want a debate. They just wanted to hate. They wanted to terrorize my family and they did. But as I explained to my crying and visibly shaken kids as we walked home, ‘they said they wanted us dead, now imagine living in Israel where every day they don’t just say it, they actually attempt to kill all of the Israeli children and tragically just today they murdered a four-year-old Israeli boy with a Hamas rocket. Not the most comforting words to young, rattled children, but now that their innocence was shattered, I felt that it was important for them to understand the reality of the world they are living in.

The LAPD officers who were dispatched to my house were extremely kind and compassionate. In fact, the first officer who showed up was Jewish and very comforting to my children. I too was comforted by him and the knowledge that there were Jewish men and women protecting the citizens of Los Angeles. At least more than the one Jewish officer I heard about in Malibu at whom Mel Gibson directed his anti-semitic tirade. This officer really put my kids at ease and told them not to be scared. It also didn’t hurt that he told us that he and his wife enjoyed my work, especially when I’ve hosted the Chabad Telethon.

Then two more officers showed up to take the report. It was explained to us that it would’ve been a hate crime if they had said they were going to kill us, instead of merely hoping we got killed, which makes it a hate incident. Try explaining that differentiation to a ten year old girl who was just told to die.

I feel so sad that my children’s innocence was lost at that very moment. That they were unwillingly and instantaneously initiated into the “We hate you because of WHAT you are club.” That they now know the harsh reality that just because they were born into a Jewish family they are targets and subject to death threats. That they can be blamed and scapegoated for things they have nothing to do with. That they are hated.

I can write a fifty page piece about where all the hatred comes from. There are too many fingers to point at. The media, (I’m talking to you CNN, NY Times, etc.), who instead of reporting on every single rocket fired into Israel, chooses to focus on every civilian casualty of this war, instigated and perpetuated by Hamas. Constantly providing the numbers of the dead, instead of the number, eleven, which is the number of cease fires Hamas broke, thereby causing all of this death and destruction. Repeatedly displaying images of dead civilians without any of the context that many of the deaths are terrorists and that any real civilian casualties were victims of Hamas’s double war crimes of firing rockets at innocent civilians while using their innocent civilians as human shields. Or that a number of casualties include civilians who were killed by errant Hamas rockets.

This is what fuels the fire and allows for people to think they now have the right to wish death upon my children.

I can blame my fellow “comedian” Russell Brand who has the audacity to say that Hamas is firing “harmless" rockets. Harmless?! Tell that to the family of the 4 year old Israeli boy who was murdered by a "harmless" Hamas rocket.

The world is buying into this propaganda. They’re allowing the terrorists to win this media intifada. They are actually listening to celebrities like Javier Bardem and Roger Waters using the word “genocide” against the Palestinian people, when the only genocide occurring in the middle east is by folks like the Assad regime who murdered 170,000 innocents, or ISIS who are murdering innocent Christians and others who are not of their beliefs. Oh yeah, and the attempted genocide of every Jew in Israel, a genocide that is codified in Hamas’ very own charter, one that has been stopped thanks to the Iron Dome and the destruction of the terror tunnels which were built for an actual genocide.

I can go on and on about how all of the pro-Palestinian rallies have signs that say "Death to Jews" and praising Hitler, and why Jews everywhere are now targets of hate crimes, hate incidents, vandalism and murder. I could ... but I have jokes to write. Because I’m trying to make the world a better place with laughter. Sadly, we now live in a world full of people that love to hate, more than they love to laugh.

Dear Mr. Gold,

I was very sorry to hear about your terrifying incident, where your children have lost their innocence. Please let me comment on some of your thoughts:

"We all know too well, that 'Free Palestine' means free Palestine from every Jew" - well, how do you know that so well? I am constantly attending demonstrations against the Israeli occupation, mainly in Tel-Aviv but also in the occupied territories, and I totally relate to "Free Palestine" that I'm hearing from fellow demonstrators who, I believe, don't want me out of there - at least not more than fellow Israeli Jews want the Palestinians out; And, trust me on this one - there are quite a few such Israelis - and I can understand them.

You told us that your children were scared of that incident, and some of them cried. I totally believe that, and feel terribly sorry for them. Think for a moment about the hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza, who are not just scared, but frightened to death, literally. Yes, a 4-year-old child was killed in Israel, and that is terrible. Yes, other children in Israel are scared too. Can you compare the level of fear in Israel and in Gaza? I can relate to the 15-year-old girl in Kerem-Shalom, near Gaza, who said that as much as she was scared, she felt sorry for the Gazan children, who live in much poorer conditions.

"I couldn't believe that they were filled with such hatred and ignorance and that someone could go as far as wishing my children dead and blaming me for the death of children in Gaza. Me?! I’ve been killing children in Gaza?" - No, you didn't kill anybody. Only your support money did. The actual killing is done by very few, but is vastly supported by the Israeli public (around 85%), and yes, by the American Jewry of which you are part. I think that it was Edmund Burke who said: "All that it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing". And if you can't understand the level of hatred - try to imagine how it's like to live in Gaza; being totally dependent for every aspect of life, without dignity, with very little hope for a better future. On top of that - try to imagine how it is like to be an Israeli Arab citizen, who is far from being equal to the Jews - as an official governmental committee has reported (the Or Committee, 2001).

"...the leaders of Israel have called every innocent civilian death 'a great tragedy.' - Sorry, but that is not true. Please show me one such call. The leadership in Israel doesn't care at all, and I wouldn't believe them even if they did relate to the suffering of the Palestinians. But they have at least been honest about their feelings, and disregarded the pain - pulling the vast majority of Jews after them, like a nice 'lead by example' that they learned in the military.

If you are willing to educate those rude people about the "willingness and desire to live in peace with our Arab neighbors," good luck. I think you'll have very hard times, but not because you are so right - but because they are correct to think, that all Israeli government have done everything in their power, to prevent any viable political solution to the conflict. This is a column written by a former director of Internal Security (the notorious Shabak), somebody who is much respected in my country for his knowledge and understanding of the security situation - and definitely not n lunatic liberal.

And yes, this was a "hate incident", not a crime. They wished you were dead, that's very ugly, indeed. Think of how many Jews in Israel - didn't threaten to kill all the 1.8 million Palestinians in Gaza, but just wished them to be dead, in some miracle way. You'd be surprised, but I know personally many such wishers.

And last of all - I watched a video on your website, being very skeptical that there could be another "Jewish Jerry Seinfeld" or Louis CK. Gosh, your act is really funny and full of talent. I wish you the best and may you and your family never experience such an incident, ever again.

An answer to Steven Shamrak, vol. 3

Dear readers,

Below is another response to yet another article I received by email, from Mr. Steven Shamrak.

Mr. Shamrak is a very knowledgeable individual, who runs a very patriotic "pro-Israeli" web site (from Australia), called "Shamrak's report" (www.shamrak.com) .

I embedded my humble response to his claims, marked with yellow highlighting. I hope that you find this interesting, maybe even entertaining.

Arab-Israel Conflict – Forgotten Facts! – Intro1

The term "Palestinian" is itself a masterful twisting of history. To portray themselves as indigenous, Arab settlers adopted the name of an ancient Mediterranean tribe, the Philistines (“Invaders” in Hebrew),

This is BS. There is no connection between "Plishtim" and "Polshim".

1. Nationhood and Jerusalem - Israel became a nation in the 14th century B.C.E. Two thousand years before the rise of Islam.

So?!

2. Since 1272 B.C.E. the Jews have had dominion over the land for up to 1,000 years with a continuous Jewish presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.

So?!

3. The only Arab dominion since the Arab invasion and conquest in 635 C.E. lasted no more than 22 years.

So?!

4. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.

So?!

6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy Scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned once in the Koran.

Irrelevant.

7. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray facing Mecca (often with their backs toward Jerusalem).

Don’t confuse Muslims with Palestinians. Many Palestinians are Christians. How is this relevant?

15. Did you know that Saudi Arabia was not created until 1913, Lebanon until 1920? Iraq did not exist as a nation until 1932, Syria until 1941; the borders of Jordan were established in 1946 and Kuwait in 1961. Any of these nations that would say Israel is only a recent arrival would have to deny their own rights as recent arrivals as well. They did not exist as countries. They were all under the control of the Turks. Over 80% of the original British Mandate land was given to Arabs without population transfer of Arabs from the land designated for Jews.

Did you know that the US was created in 1776? And on the expense of thousands of "Indians"?

How is this relevant? The only thing that matters is - that there were Palestinians in the land before the Zionists came.

16. In 1947, the Jewish state huddled on 18% of the original British Mandate land. The Jews accepted it gratefully. The Arabs rejected it with a vengeance and seven Arab states immediately declared war against Israel.

That is actually True.

17. In 1948, the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Most of them left in fear of being killed by their own Arab brothers as traitors.

Not entirely true. Arab leaders did urge them to leave, but many were forced to leave by the Zionist forces.

18. Some 850,000 Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab countries, due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.

They don't want to go back there, they don't see them as their homes.

19. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is claimed to be around 630,000 (where did they get this number?) maybe from the same source which gave you the number 1272 B.C. (nobody knows that for sure).

Propagandists of the whole World, Unite!

24. There is only one Jewish state. There are 60 Muslim countries, including 22 Arab nations.

This is like saying that there are 105 Christian countries, and 10 English-speaking nations.

You are nothing but a racist if you include all Muslims in the same category.

25. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel.

Not true.

26. Pan-Arabism or the doctrine of Muslim Caliphate declares that all land that used to belong to Muslims must be returned to them. Thus, Spain, for example, must eventually be re-conquered.

Excellent example of how irrelevant all this is. Is there a war between Spain and any Arab country? People can have aspirations to every crazy idea, but they can live in peace at the same time because they leave their aspirations at home when they go to do business with other people. That’s applicable for the Hamas, Fatah, and the crazy Jews who want to rebuild the Temple.

Christianity, Islam, and War Crimes

My friend Yair mentioned East Timor, as an example of a major massacre of Christians committed by Muslims. In our jargon, this mentioning is called "Setting for a Spike", as in volleyball. So I have no choice but to spike.

Well, Yair, good that you mentioned East Timor. The Indonesians (mostly Muslims) invaded this poor country (Catholic) in 1975, and killed more than 100,000. They probably could not have done that unless their dictator, Suharto, met in 1975 with president Gerald Ford (a Protestant) and Henri Kissinger (Jewish), who gave him the OK, because East Timor was considered Communist. The American media virtually ignored the slaughter.
This and Cambodia puts Dr. Kissinger, a Peace Nobel prize laureate, on the top of the list of war criminals. Did I mention that he is Jewish?
Muslims will have to work very hard to catch up with the death toll committed by Christians.
Like I said, it's all politics, not religion.

You astonish me again! Muslims kill Timorians, and you blame the Jews again. What is wrong with you. Do you really think it's Kissinger's fault? (and I am not trying to defend
American policy here).
So, let's leave Timor for the moment, and let's talk about Algeria. Is that America/Jews problem too, or is it an Islamic (yes Islamic, not political) problem.
Why do you get out of your skin to defend Islam? What is your point there?

You did not answer my points when I talked about Judaism compared to Islam. You keep talking about Christianity and its horrible actions from 300 years ago, but I am talking today. Can't you see that there is something wrong here?
Every other Islamic nation is involved with bloodshed, one pseudo democratic Islamic country, suicide bombers, medieval religious laws practiced only in these countries, and what you have to say in return is: Kissinger is evil!
Christianity was evil too.
Sekila (Hebrew for: Stoning) was practiced by Jews 2500 years ago (so we are actually Afghanistan).

Avner, you are smarted than that.

I can get your claim that it is not the religion, but who practices it (I don't know Islam very well but I suspect that is not really the case). But even if that is the case, then Communism was a great idea, the practice was wrong, so - who do we blame? We blame the Communists because there was probably something wrong with the way
people interpreted it. The same with today’s Islam. The Koran might be the best, most gentle book ever, even better than "Le Petit Prince", but for me Islam is what I see. Humeini, Saudi Arabia, suicide bombers in the name of Allah, Hamas, Algeria, Sudan, No democracy, terrible attitude to women. Until they change it, for me Islam is an evil religion.

My response:
To say that I blamed the Jews for East Timor is "just a little" demagogy. I blamed the Indonesians first, and President Ford and his secretary of state second. Not all the Jews. My only point was that you don't have to be a Muslim to be responsible for terrorism.

If you only look on today, then you miss some of the picture. Even if I accepted your definition of terrorism, then the fact that most "terrorists" today are Muslims (I will doubt that in a minute), doesn't prove that Islam is terroristic in essence. I'm keeping mentioning the medieval times, because I think that this is evidence that there is no direct link between any religions, to evil doing. If Christians, and even Jews, could do evil on a large scale, even if it was 500 years ago (the Inquisition) or 3,000 years ago (the horrible things which OUR bible describes about Jews wrong-doing) - then my point is that no religion has a monopoly on either the Truth, Goodness, or Evil.

I am not defending Islam, I'm just defending my views of this world. I may be wrong.

Using Terror is not characteristic of Islam, more than it's of Christianity. Claiming that Islam is violent and murderous because of 9/11, is like saying that Christianity is a terrorist religion because Bush sent troops to kill ~130,000 Iraqi civilians (and that's just one case). Bush also does this in the name of "God", why doesn't anybody call him a "Militant Christian"? He does it for a good cause, such as spreading democracy? - Even if this was true (I think it's for the oil prices, but never mind) - so do the other terrorists. It's for what they see as "good cause" - to spread the Islam. He would do it without killing civilians if he could? - so would the other terrorists.
It's just so happened that today, democracy is predominantly Christian. It was not so forever and probably won't be forever.

Now to the definition of terror. This is going to upset you, but it's necessary to make my point. I think that the definition of terror is also political, and it's dominated by those who are in power. Therefore, in the West, a terrorist is one who kills people from the West; but somebody who just kills Iraqis, Palestinians, etc., is a fighter in "the War on Terror". On the other hand, in the Muslim world, a terrorist is one who kills people from the Muslim world, and whoever kills Jews or Christians is a "freedom fighter". My opinion is that both definitions are wrong to the same extent. I think that a terrorist is one who kills civilians, either on purpose, or in an action during which they know in advance that civilians would be killed. This definition includes Bin-Laden, Bush, and some Israeli generals.

I know that you distinguish between those who killed (or sent others to kill, in this sense Bin-Laden is no different than Bush) with a deliberate purpose, and those who wished that civilians would not be killed (like Bush, or Dan Halutz on a much smaller scale). I know that this is hard for you to accept (not to agree, God forbid, but even to accept that others think this way); but to me this is not a big difference. I think that most terrorists on the "bad" side (which is of course always "the Other" side), also wished that they were in a situation that they didn't need to kill. This is how they see it - I don't think they "need" to kill, but they honestly think that this is the only way to achieve their goals, some of which I justify - the goals, not the means - and frankly, I think that we (Israel) give them many reasons to think so: the recent shift in Israeli public opinion, whether you think it's good or not (I know that Yair thinks it's good, maybe Idit thinks it's not good, I respect both views, but the shift is a historic fact) - would not have occurred if it was not for the terrorist Intifada.
The concept that we, the "good guys", wish that we were in a situation in which we didn't "need" to kill, and this is something that most of us feel and think, is just similar!
Yair, you say that you don't know Islam and you can only judge upon what you see. "אין לו לדיין אלא מה שעיניו רואות" – “The Judge can only decree based on what he sees.” This is very true. I'm afraid that most of what we know about the Islamic world (myself included, I'm no expert by any means) comes from the Western media, which is not very sympathetic. There are 1 billion Muslim people, most of who are just normal human beings, like you and me. This may sound naive but this is truly what I think.
Yes, I agree that there is a significant difference in the way that Jews and Muslims behaved under oppression. My view is that the difference comes from the way people were led to act, the tradition that they kept, the particular interpretation of their religion and tradition, which in both cases could have easily been interpreted in a complete different manner! "טוב שבגויים הרוג" – “Thou shalt kill even the best of the Gentiles” (most Orthodox people don't even know that such a horrible phrase exists in the Talmud, and that's very good that they don't know), could have been interpreted in the same way that Muslims interpreted the more evil verses of the Koran. We both have all the material in the world to take to whichever direction we want - good or evil. The Jews chose the good paths during most of history. Today, and only in the last few generations, manyMuslims choose the evil way. But that's not a necessity that stems from neither Islam nor Judaism! This is a result of a political situation. When people live in their own countries, ruling their own lives, they tend to develop a kind of "self confidence" that sometimes pushes them to be more demanding, more assertive and sometimes even violent. This even works for people of the same ethnicity when they live outside of their own countries - like the Muslims in France. On the other hand, Jews who lived in other people's countries throughout most of history, and didn't have their own country, developed a sort of humbleness, that made them both very ambitions, creative but at the same time very passive when it came to their self defense. This is exactly why the state of Israel was established - to give Jews, both in Israel and outside, the self confidence and feeling of pride and activeness that they lacked. As we well know, for some Israelis, this proposition was so successful, that it even went a little too far...
I'm not justifying any of the atrocities that took place in France, the Netherlands etc., just tried to explain why I see parallels. I know that it's hard for me to explain, I do my best and this is what comes out.
And on top of all that, I see people like GW Bush as bigger terrorists than Bin-Laden (just counting by the number of dead they are responsible for). They are one and the same in my eyes, although one has a beard and the other is a "nice white person in a nice suit".
