מי כאן הבריון
בעקבות ההשתלטות של לוחמי השייטת על משט הסיוע לעזה, שוב נשטפת הארץ בגלים עכורים של פטריוטיות זולה. סיסמאות בנוסח "כולנו שייטת 13" ניבטות אלינו מפינות שונות בארץ. חשוב להבהיר, שעל האופניים שלי אין סטיקר כזה
ראשית, מפני שלא שירתתי בשייטת
שנית, מפני שבעיני, הפורעים והאלימים בסיפור הזה הם חיילי השייטת, ולא פעילי השלום שבאו לפרוץ את המצור הבלתי צודק על עזה
מאבקם לעצמאות של הפלסטינים, ושל תומכיהם ההולכים ומתרבים בעולם, הוא מאבק צודק על פי כל קנה מידה הגון ומוסרי, גם על פי המוסר היהודי. זאת, גם בהסתייגות המתבקשת, שהאמצעים שנוקטים חלק מהפלסטינים, הם נפשעים ובלתי מוצדקים. הטרור שמפעילות קבוצות שונות, שהפכו לאחרונה לקבוצות שוליים, איננו משנה את הצדק הבסיסי בדרישה של הפלסטינים להיות עם חופשי בארצם
מכאן נובע, שכל פעולה המגבילה את חירותם ושוללת את זכויותיהם של תושבי רצועת עזה, וזה כולל מצור ימי – איננה צודקת ואיננה מוסרית. לנוכח מצור כזה, מוצדק להתנגד, גם באלימות – למעט אלימות נגד אזרחים שאינם נושאים נשק. חיילי השייטת הם לוחמים מאומנים, וגם אם מישהו החליט בשבילם, משיקולים של תדמית בלבד, שלא להעלות נשק חם אל סיפון האוניה – הרי הם חיילים חמושים לכל דבר, שביכולתם להפעיל אלימות ואף להרוג, כפי שאכן עשו לצערנו הרב
לנוכח השתלטות בכוח על אוניה שמטרתה לפרוץ מצור בלתי צודק, יש לנוסעי האוניה כל זכות שבעולם להתנגד להשתלטות, גם בכוח. התקשורת בישראל, שהיא חופשית בימים רגילים אבל מתגייסת ל"שירות האומה" במצבי "חירום", התייצבה כאיש אחד, בניצוחו של דובר צה"ל, כדי ליצור מצג שווא. מי שצרך בימים אלה רק חדשות בעברית, קיבל את הרושם שנוסעי ספינות הסיוע ההומניטרי היו חמושים בנשק חם, ושכוונתם העיקרית הייתה להשתמש בו על מנת להרוג. בדרנים ודברנים המתחזים לעיתונאים, כמו הכתב הצבאי של הערוץ הראשון, רוני דניאל, תיארו את האירוע במילים "נשמעו יריות לעבר חיילי צה"ל, מה שמוכיח שעל הספינה היה נשק חם". מה שה"כתב" הזה שכח להזכיר הוא, שהנשק הזה נחטף מידי חיילי השייטת.
האמת היתה שונה בתכלית. האוניות היו עמוסות במצרכים חיוניים שנועדו לתושבי עזה, ולא היה על הספינה נשק חם. מקצת מנוסעי הספינה "מרמרה" אלה שהיו אמיצים ומיומנים דיים להתנגד להשתלטות הקטלנית של חיילי צה"ל, הצטיידו בכלי נשק פרימיטיביים, כמו אלות ומעט סכינים. איש לא ירה על חיילי צה"ל מנשק שהגיע בספינה. אכן, בעקבות תושייתם של קצתם של נוסעי הספינה, ובאומץ מדהים שכמעט שום אדם שאני מכיר לא היה מצליח לגייס – וזה כולל כמובן אותי – הם הצליחו לחטוף מספר כלי נשק מחיילי הקומנדו הקשוחים והמאומנים ביותר בעולם, ולהתנגד במשך זמן מה, תוך סיכון חיים וודאי.

אוקיף סיפר ששלושה חיילים נשבו על ידי הנוסעים למשך כחצי שעה, דבר שהיה יכול להתפתח לפיגוע מיקוח מביך עד אימה מבחינתה של ממשלת ישראל – אלמלא שוחררו השלושה, ביוזמת נוסעי הספינה, ללא פגע. לנוכח הנכונות של המפגינים לסכן את חייהם, בלחימה הרואית נגד לוחמי קומנדו ימי - די ברור ששום דבר לא מנע מהם לפגוע בחיילי השייטת השבויים, ששכבו בבטן האוניה כפותים ורועדים מפחד. העובדה שהמפגינים לא נרתעו מעימות אלים נגד חיילי קומנדו מאומנים, מוכיחה שלא החשש מפני הסתבכות עם השלטונות הישראליים מנע מהם לפגוע בשבויים. אני השתכנעתי מכנות דבריו של אוקיף, שטען בראיון שהם שחררו את השבויים מפני שלא באו כדי להרוג או לפגוע, אלא באמת כדי להעביר סיוע הומניטרי לפלסטינים. טענתה של ישראל, שניתן היה להעביר את הסיוע דרך שלטונות ישראל – מאבדת את אמינותה לנוכח ההתנהגות שאינה מעוררת אמון של ישראל במהלך הסכסוך, כמו הקפאת כספי המיסים הפלסטיניים, ההפרות המתמשכות של הסכמים, ועוד.
בעיני, מדהים ההבדל בין מידת הכנות והאותנטיות הנושבת מדבריו של אוקיף בראיון, לבין השקרים וחצאי האמיתות שפירסם דובר צה"ל. לאוקיף, שחטף מכות על הספינה, ולטענתו גם בעת שהיה במעצר, יש כל הסיבות להיות כועס וממורמר. אבל בראיון הוא נשמע רגוע וכמעט מפויס, ונימת דבריו עניינית ונטולת רוע. דובר צה"ל, לעומתו, תיאר אותו כ"שונא ישראל" שבא כדי לאמן לוחמים פלסטיניים. ממש, החמאס זקוק לקשישים ששרתו במארינס לפני 18 שנה כדי שיאמנו אותם. כמו כן כינה דובר צה"ל את המפגינים "שכירי חרב". איך אפשר לחשוב על מפגינים אלה כעל אנשי לגיון הזרים, שבאו לסכן את חייהם תמורת כסף? אין גבול לאבסורד
על כן, כל הדיבורים על מפגינים אלימים וחמושים, שבאו להילחם, ורק גבורתם של לוחמי השייטת מנעה זאת מהם, וגם הצילה את ישראל משבירת המצור על עזה – אין להם על מה לסמוך. להיפך, ההכנה הלקויה של המבצע, אפילו מבחינת המטרות שניסתה ישראל להשיג, וההרג שביצעו הלוחמים, רק גרמו לישראל מבוכה עולמית, בזיון ברמה הטקטית, ופגיעה חמורה במעמדה הבינלאומי, המעורער ממילא
ההנהגה הישראלית הכושלת שוב הוכיחה קוצר ראיה, חוסר תכנון, העדפה של הגישה הכוחנית על פני כל חלופה, לשון אחר – ההתנהגות הבריונית הרגילה של ארגון המסובך עד מעל לראשו בפרויקט של כיבוש, דיכוי, שלילת זכויות, וניסיון חסר תוחלת להחזיק במקל בשני קצותיו ביד אחת: גם לא להרפות מהכיבוש, וגם להצטייר, בעיני עצמו ובעיני זולתו, כגוף מוסרי, דמוקרטי ונאור. זה לא עבד מעולם, בשום מקום, לאורך זמן ארוך. ולכן סופו של הנסיון הנואל להיכשל גם במקרה הזה

An open letter to an Israeli Immigration Officer
RE: the denial of entry to Noam Chomsky
Mr. Israeli Immigration officer,
I wonder what the qualifications for your job are.
When you decided to deny entry from Noam Chomsky, what exactly were you thinking?
I mean, let us give you some credit. I will assume that you didn’t really worry that Chomsky, an 81 year old MIT professor, would wear a bomb belt and blow himself up in a Tel Aviv main street. It makes sense that even you, an Israeli establishment official, didn’t really have this scenario in mind. It makes more sense that you were afraid that Prof. Chomsky, in his planned talk to a Palestinian audience in Bir-Zeit, would instigate them against the Israeli government. And it doesn’t really matter what you, or I, or Prof. Chomsky himself, think about the conflict. The only thing that matters, for the sake of this discussion, is whether you thought the consequences of your decision through, or not.
Let us consider the situation that you so bravely prevented. You, in your heroic action, made sure that Prof. Chomsky did not talk in Bir-Zeit, and his dangerous influence on the Palestinian’s minds was, thank God almighty, avoided.
But did you think what would happen next? For example, did you envision the organizers of the event, telling the audience: “Brothers and sisters, unfortunately Prof Chomsky will not be able to speak to us tonight. This is not because he broke his leg, or because he just didn’t feel like coming. In fact, he made the effort to travel to Jordan, and waited 3 hours on the Israeli side of the border control, before he was told that the Israeli government wouldn’t grant his entry to Palestine. You are all familiar with the sensitivity of those Jews to their security, so we hope you understand. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Good night and God bless you.”
Now, Mr. brave and smart immigration officer, you can tap yourself on the shoulder: you prevented another provocative talk from an anti-Semitist self-hater American Jew. And now, the audience will appreciate us for our cautious procedures. It's not enough that the Israeli government keeps them under what they see as brutal and unjust occupation, but on top of that, does not allow outsiders to come and speak to them about that – well, what would they think, really?
Think about it, if you haven’t done so yet: In the absence of Chomsky, is it possible that somebody else can tell them about their miserable situation? Or remind them of the endless lines at the checkpoints, of the hours it takes to travel a distance of 10 miles, and in general, of the lack of basic human and national rights?
But there is another issue here, much more severe than whether or not the Chomsky speech would have added to their knowledge of the situation. Did you consider the effect of the cancellation of the talk, on the feelings and thoughts of the Palestinians?
I’m not asking this question, God forbid, out of concern to those people’s emotions. I am only discussing the effect that this might have on the intensity of this conflict.
Mr. officer, I don’t blame you of disloyalty to your country. This is not our way in the Left camp. It is much more common among Right wing speakers, in Israel and everywhere else, to leave aside any due-point arguments, and just blame the other party of betrayal. I’m not like them. Actually, I am sure that you did what you did out of honest care to your country. So, what did you think would be the effect of denying a person to speak, on the hearts and minds of those who feel humiliated, oppressed and occupied, on a daily basis? Did you really consider this, and decided that we are better off with the anger and frustration of the students and teachers in Bir-Zeit, so long as they just can’t hear what Chomsky has to say?
We should not even mention the costly price, that Israel will pay in the international arena, in which our situation is not so bright at this moment, to begin with. Well, for one thing, you can claim that Israel is already used to this. Second, this should never be a concern, because those Goyim all hate us anyway. And third, well, you are just an immigration officer. Nobody expects you to think that far.
It’s good to know, Mr. immigration officer, that such brilliant and capable persons take care of our most sensitive security and good image matters. I salute you for an excellent job.

ללוחמים החדשים - שלא תיקראו לעוד מלחמה מיותרת

עכשיו זה רשמי, ומוכח מעל לספק סביר: אין מי שיכול לעצור את הזמן. עובדה, שנה וחצי אחרי שהגעתם לבקו"מ ונראיתם כמו ילדים מחופשים לחיילים – אנחנו כולנו יושבים כאן, אוכלים, שותים ונהנים. והמסלול המתיש, המפרך, התובעני – מאחוריכם. זה נגמר, עשיתם אותו כמו גדולים, כמו גברים. אתם באופן רשמי – לוחמים
בשבילנו, ההורים, זאת רק שמחה למחצה. כולנו היינו בצבא, למרות שגם לנו אמרו בגן, שכשנגדל כבר לא יצטרכו צבא. האמת שקצת התבאסנו, כי רצינו להיות חיילים, חתיכים כאלה וגיבורים, כמוכם. אבל לא ממש רצינו שגם אתם תעברו את כל הקריעה הזאת. האמת היא שפשוט חשבנו על עצמנו. היה לנו קל להדאיג את ההורים שלנו, אבל שאנחנו נדאג – זה כבר לא. לעבור את זה בעצמנו, זה דבר אחד. דבר אחר לגמרי הוא להרגיש שהבן שלך ושלך עובר את כל הסבל הזה. אמנם היה לנו נוח ונעים להתכרבל בלילה בשמיכה, אבל המחשבה על הבן, הסובל בשבועיים של לוחמה דרום, סוחב משקלים שאין להם כבר קטגוריה כי הם מעבר למשקל כבד; נאנק תחת כובד המנשא, אבל מכריח את עצמו להיכנס מתחת לאלונקה; מת ללכת כבר לישון, אבל בשארית כוחותיו בונה את העמדה שתסתיר אותו מעין האויב כשהאור יעלה – המחשבות על הבן העושה את כל אלה, הפריעו לנו לישון. ולפעמים היה אפילו רצון, לקום, להתלבש ולנסוע לאי שם, למקום העלום והחבוי שבו אתם מתאמנים, נסתרים מעין האומה; לעשות לך: פססססט, זוז, בן עייף שלי. תנוח קצת, חמוד. שכב לישון, אתה רק ילד. תן לי לסחוב את האלונקה במקומך
איזו מחשבה טיפשית. ברור שאתה בחיים לא היית מסכים שאבא יעשה לך פדיחות כאלה, או שאמא תביא לך סנדוויץ', ואני כבר לא מדבר על כך שתרוץ אחריך עם בננה. חוץ מזה, ברור גם שהאבא הקשיש שלך כבר לא מסוגל לסחוב אפילו אלונקה ריקה
בקיצור, לוחמים קשוחים ביחידה הזאת – זה לא ממש מה שהיה לנו בראש כשגידלנו אתכם כילדים רכים, כשהחלפנו לכם חיתולים וכשחששנו בכל פעם שחציתם כביש. אבל בכל זאת, למרות שלא רצינו לגדל חיילים למלחמה – היום אנחנו מה-זה גאים בכם. ראיתי אתכם בליל אמש, רצים במעלה הר עבדת לאורם של סטיק-לייטים בשלל צבעים וירח מלא אחד, ואחר כך רוקדים בטירוף, עם המנשאים האדירים על הגב, שרים את השירים שלכם שרק אתם מבינים. ראיתי את האנרגיה והנעורים המתפרצים שלכם, את הרצון האינסופי שלכם – לשמוח, לתת, ולהיות טובים זה לזה. והלא יכולתם בקלות לבחור לכם ג'וב נוח, לבלות כל ערב בעיר, להשלים בגרות או לעבוד בערבים ולחסוך לטיול הגדול. יש לצבא מספיק חיילים קרביים, ואיש לא היה מרגיש אם הייתם עושים מה שעושים רבים אחרים – פשוט משתמטים. אבל אתם החלטתם – הדרך הקלה זה לא בשבילנו. לסחוב מקררים במעלה הר כמון, לחפש נתיב בתוך סבך בלתי עביר, לקפוא מקור במארבים שלא נגמרים, ועוד לחטוף מכות מרוטשילד ביום שישי לפני היציאה – זה נראה לכם הרבה יותר מדליק

במהלך המלחמה שפרצה ביום הכיפורים, שאלו את הרמטכ"ל של אז, דדו אלעזר ז"ל, איך הצעירים של היום נלחמים. הוא ענה כך: הדור הזה עולה על הדור של 67, שעלה על הדור של 56, שעלה על הדור שלי, של 48. ואני יכול היום להגיד לכם: אתם עולים על הדור שלנו. אתם חכמים יותר, מתוחכמים יותר, אתם סוחבים משקלים גדולים יותר, אתם נדרשים להפעיל ציוד מסובך יותר, בסביבה מורכבת יותר. ואתם עושים זאת עם חיוך, באופן שמעורר כבוד
היום, יותר מבכל יום במסלול המפרך שעברתם, אנחנו מצדיעים לכם; מנשקים אתכם, ומתחננים: תהיו מקצועיים, תהיו אחלה לוחמים, תלמדו לעשות את העבודה, יותר טוב מכל יחידה. תהיו הסיוט של כל לוחם חיזבאללה. אבל שלעולם לא תצטרכו להוכיח את זה בפועל. אנחנו רוצים כמוכם, שהמדינה הזאת תהיה מוגנת ובטוחה, אבל גם שכולכם תחזרו מהצבא בחתיכה אחת. שלעולם לא תצטרכו להשתמש במקצועיות, בכישורים ובכושר שלכם. כולנו רוצים שכל תושב במדינה הזאת יידע, שיש יחידה אחת בצבא שקוראים לה ****, ויש בה חבורה של גברים צעירים שלא כדאי לשום לוחם אויב להיתקל בהם. אנשי החיזבאללה קוראים את כל העיתונים שלנו. כשנסראללה יקרא בעיתון, שעוד מחזור סיים מסלול, והוא מוכן לצאת מיד, אם יהיה צורך, לעשות מהסקאדים החדשים שלו שקשוקה מפויחת – אנחנו ההורים מעדיפים שחסן המזוקן יימלך בדעתו, יאמר: אם אלה אני לא מתעסק, ויחליט לעשות איתנו שלום. יום אחד, כשזה יקרה, זה יהיה במידה רבה מאד, בזכותכם

hijacking Israel 's political agenda, implying the organization is
forcing Muslims to accept the Jewish truth of Biblical historical

archaeological artefacts for political reasons but can hide them or
forbid even talk about them. Saudi Arabia and Jordan, to prevent

And, Israel is doing the same by hiding evidence for any type of control on this land by anybody who was not Jewish. You did not refute that, but as you are used to, preferred to answer with true, but irrelevant, claims regarding the other side.

Syria and Hizballah are acting out the secret military cooperation pacts, which were negotiated and signed during visits to Damascus by Iran's National Security Adviser Saeed Jalili on Nov. 3 and its defence minister Ahmed Vahidi on Dec. 17. These treaties commit Syria to come to Hizballah's aid if it comes under Israeli attack, and all three signatories to respond to any Israeli military movement.
